• Local Government Commission Boundaries Review •

April 2002

The Electoral Review Commission is proposing to re-arrange the Coltishall & Buxton Wards on Broadland District Council to create ONE new Ward electing 2 Councillors to jointly cover COLTISHALL, HORSTEAD with STANNINGHALL, CROSTWICK & BELAUGH (the ONE member ward proposed by Broadland DC and to which none of the Parish Councils objected) and BUXTON, BRAMPTON & FRETTENHAM (the other ONE member Ward, to which none of those parishes objected).

All the Parish Councils concerned are objecting primarily to the Commission's proposals, the main objection being that the interests of the various communities are best represented by TWO SINGLE MEMBER WARDS. This will give improved accountability and electors will know to whom they should turn.

If you support this line of thought PLEASE write to the Commission AS SOON AS POSSIBLE objecting to their proposals for the Coltishall & Buxton Wards and expressing a preference for separate single member wards as proposed by Broadland District Council. Letters should be addressed to: The Review Manager, Broadland Review, LGCE, Dolphyn Court, 10/11 Great Turnstile, London WC1V 7JU. It would also be helpful if a copy was supplied to me. Alternatively, they may be addressed to the above and hand delivered to Councillor Alan Mallett, The Cabinet, High Street, Coltishall, Norfolk NR12 7AA.

Please write as soon as possible but note that objections MUST be received by the Commission by 15th April. It would be very

helpful to send as many letters of support as possible because representations from private individuals do carry weight.

Alan S Mallett
Councillor Coltishall Ward
