It would seem likely that the silent,
rapt attention for almost one hour on the part of
45 listeners can seldom be achieved by any speaker,
whether professional or not!! A talk on The Life Of
Nurse Edith Cavell by Mr Geoffrey Hodson in February
inspired just this situation. This was an excellent,
unique opportunity to learn more from an accomplished
speaker about one of Norfolk's famous citizens.
March offered us an equally appreciated hour when
cloistral silence was not the mood of the meeting.
An unvarnished practical demonstration of quick, simple
home winemaking was given to our W.I. by a member
of the Norfolk Winemakers' Guild, Mr Roy Green. Roy's
buoyant, endearing personality was a tonic in itself,
his recipe and tasty samples of wine sent us home
encouraged to revive the art of inexpensive and delicious
home winemaking.
Is it any wonder that our local W.I. membership and
friendly monthly meetings are attracting so many new
members? Do come along if you are at all interested
and see what you think of us.
The May meeting will be a serious one when this year's
Resolutions will be discussed but in April we look
forward to learning all about Venetian Masks from
Janet Steel.
