April 2003

Beginning with our usual second Sunday in the month pattern of worship on Palm Sunday 8 am Holy Trinity, 9.30 am All Saints and 11 am St John the Baptist, this year, as well as our usual Compline services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of Holy Week at 7.30 pm in order St John the Baptist, All Saints and Holy Trinity we will be marking Maundy Thursday in a very special way this year. As traditionally all Churches are stripped of all hangings and we will be having two short acts of worship 6.15 pm at Holy Trinity, 6.45 pm St John the Baptist with a hymn, Reading and stripping of their Altars at each and arrive at 7.30 pm at All Saints for the symbolic feet washing (I am about to approach certain people to help with this) followed by The Last Supper. It is hoped that as many people as possible will be part of all three services.

For those of you who prefer a more informal approach on Good Friday at 11 am there will be Children’s Service for all ages and freed from her usual Thursday hospitality Margaret Riley will be serving Hot Cross Buns after the Service.

The Vigil at the Cross will be held at 2 pm at All Saints, this service is not suitable for young children.

Easter Day Holy Communion will be as usual 9.30 am All Saints and 11 am St John the Baptist.

As I have said we do hope that you will join our Thursday evening Church crawl to all three Churches, but come to the most convenient one if you don’t feel up to all three venues.

We look forward to seeing you all over this richly rewarding high point in the Church’s year.

Lorna
