General information
The trust is a registered charity owning and managing
the three commons on behalf of the village and in
accordance with Charity Commission law. The Registered
Charity number is 279903.
Chairman: James Wheeler.
Trustees, Including Provisional Ones: Alan Spinks,
Michael Spinks, Nigel Haines, Stephen Coman, Gilly
Riley and Peter Holdaway. Provisional trustees are
having their names added to the revised trust deed.
At the last two meetings time was taken up with the
maintaining of posts on the Lower Common and the poor
quality of grass cutting on the site. Both items have
now been corrected. The clerk has been asked to net
off the split on the Lower Common for safety reasons
until the committee is given advice as to the most
effective way of dealing with the problem. The area
used to be a water meadow with the quay heading being
added later so May Gurney's river experts advice is
being sought. Elsewhere a temporary repair has been
made to a hole by the footbridge and the Broads Authority
did an inspection and repair at the end of May.
The trust was appreciative of Mrs Redstone's offer
to repaint seats on the Common and the work she put
in to completing this.
Unfortunately cars have been parked on the grass
of the Upper Common. This has been amicably dealt
with and appears to have been due to misunderstanding.
Transco have been replacing mains on the edge of
the Lower Common and owe the trust some back rent.
A cheque is due shortly. Eastern Electricity wayleave
and Kings Head and Rising Sun Leases are to be followed
up by the Chairman.
