August/September 2002

St John The Baptist, Coltishall
Bell Ringers Association

The main item for mentioning this time is of course our event at St John's on Saturday, 3rd August, but before I go into that in detail I will let you know about the weddings.

On Saturday, 29th June at 3.30pm Jonathan Spoor and Melissa Loucas were married at St John The Baptist, and we were able to 'Ring The Wedding Bells' for this very joyous occasion. Afterwards it was very rewarding to be told how lovely the bells sounded, so many thanks to all those who rang.

On Saturday, 6th July - Nathan Burdett and Tina Holland also took their marriage vows at St John's and once again we were able to 'Ring The Wedding Bells'. On both occasions the weather, which is always a vital talking point this summer, was quite kind to them, but I don't think even the weather could dampen the happiness radiating from everyone at a wedding, it is such a special day for them. We all wish both couples much happiness in their future life together.

Please make a note in your diary for Saturday, 3rd August at St John's Church Coltishall from 2 pm to 5 pm. Visit the Tower Roof with wonderful views over the countryside, the Bell Ringing Chamber after restoration, and the Clock Tower. There will also be a display of photographs from past times of the surrounding villages, so do bring along your old photographs of Grandma etc., as well as the village as it used to be in days gone by. We also hope to have a Mr Don Folland playing the organ for us during the afternoon. Refreshments include a wonderful selection of home made cakes, tea - coffee - fruit juice etc., so why not come along and enjoy the afternoon with us, we look forward to seeing you there.

Secretary
