| While
some of you are preparing for a well earned summer
break the Jubilee Players will hardly have time to
draw breath. We have just completed Dead Funny and
for those of you who came to see it, I hope you enjoyed
it. As with any production a great deal of work went
into it, but it is all worthwhile if the audiences
enjoyed it.
Anyway, moving onto the next production. It will
take place in October, which seems such a long time
away, but no doubt will be here before we know it.
Gay Lloyd is directing Season’s Greetings by
Alan Ayckbourn. I hate to say this, but, yes, it is
set at Christmas time as the title suggests. I can’t
believe I have mentioned Christmas already.
The play is set in the home of Neville and Belinda,
who are having a few marital problems. Their house
is full of friends, relatives and children. And although
the children are never seen, they certainly have an
affect on the adults. Squabbling soon breaks out and
even the Christmas presents get rifled. There is a
puppet show, which is rather an inept attempt at keeping
the children amused, but it seems to upset the adults
even more. A midnight love scene which goes horribly
wrong, but which will (I hope) cause great hilarity
in the audience.
And finally, the climax of the play comes when one
of the guests is mistaken for a burglar and is shot
by one of the family members.
There is so much more going on in this play, but
I don’t want to spoil it. Of course, if you
want to find out more you will have to come and see
it. The production will be on Wednesday 29th, Thursday
30th and Friday 31st October. I will, of course, keep
you informed of when the tickets will be going on
sale.
All that remains is to wish you a happy summer break
and hope that the weather is kind to you.
