December 2001 / January 2002

Thanks are due to all who contributed towards another moving Remembrance Day:- Miss Nora Hall who led the wreath laying at Horstead; the Rev. C Walter, the Rev. Lorna Wood and Miss D Blake who led the united service in the afternoon; the Mile Cross Salvation Army Band (and Songster Leader Bram Nurse for sounding Last Post and Reveille); Mrs G Plunket, organist; and the Frettenham Singers for their anthem.

We are grateful to the OC 54(F) Squadron RAF for permitting the Squadron's colours to be paraded and to Sqn Ldr Jez Milne (recently awarded the DFC) for representing the 54(F) Squadron at the service.

Thanks are also due to the police whose presence again ensured that we had a quiet parade and wreath laying at the War Memorial. Special thanks to our secretary, Mr B Jordan, who co-ordinated the whole.

We were very pleased, to welcome some pupils from the Primary School and hope we may see then each year. Our Standard Bearer Mr Eddie Watts had a busy day carrying the Branch Standard at Horstead in the morning, at Coltishall in the afternoon and at the Norwich Salvation Army Citadel in the evening.

Our next Branch will be on Monday 14th January at 7.30 pm in the Coltishall Church Room.
