• Neville Khambatta's Farewell •

December 2001 / January 2002

We were treated to one of Neville's specials on Sunday 4th November, his final service at All Saints after 14 years of service to the community and to All Saints Horstead in particular. To all the 100 or more gathered in church, grown ups and lots of children, all was equal- no books to confuse or fathom but simple prayers written and read by Jill Blackburn's Sunday School children, readings and rousing hymns. It was a really good service to say farewell to Neville and then wine and Nora Hall's lovely lemon iced cake to finish it all off. Neville was in excellent form and certainly looked the part in his new, happy shirt! Chris Walter offered everyone's thanks and appreciation in a little speech and presented Neville with a cheque; there were other presents too, notably a wonderful framed photo montage capturing several happy memories of Neville's visits to the Sunday School. We hope Neville felt suitably well sent off! Many thanks to all those people who turned and helped to make it such a happy morning.
