• Operation Christmas Child •

December 2002 / January 2003

By the time you read this, the wonderful total of at least 95 Christmas shoe boxes from Coltishall will be on their way to Romania. I say 'at least' because there may be some more before my final visit on Wednesday, 27th November to the TA Centre in Aylsham Road (where the boxes are checked and sorted into age groups).

I would like to thank everyone who brought a box to my home and also the Coltishall and Neatishead and Barton Pre-School Groups for their boxes. It is very heart warming to see the care and generosity with which the boxes have been filled. Also thank you to those of you who donated knitted hats and other items which have been very useful to top up some of the boxes. One lady, called Mary, 'phoned me to say that her husband had made 6 little cribs. She had made the bedding and put little teddies in them, and would they be any use. Her husband delivered them to me and they were delightful. Mary, I'm sorry I didn't ask your full name, but I want you to know that each one has been put in a box and I am sure they will help to put big smiles on otherwise sad little faces, as will all the boxes.

Thank you again to everyone.

Jill Blackburn
