December 2002 / January 2003

We don't have to be stuck with the same old TV channels this Christmas because the BBC have just launched a new package of channels called Freeview. These 30 channels are available through your existing rooftop aerial and need a Freeview receiver installed into the back of your television - and away you go - BBC 1 & 2, ITV 1, Channel 4 and Five plus lots more new channels - BBC 3, BBC 4, ITV 2, UK History, UK Style Extra, The Music Factory, CBBC and CBeebies and plenty more. And there isn't a contract to sign and it is subscription free - so no monthly payments at all!

But there a couple of catches. Firstly - can you receive the Freeview channels where you live? Well, it depends on your postcode. Secondly - is your aerial good enough to pick up the Freeview channels?
