December 2002 / January 2003

At last we have a result from our Annual Appeal collection in September, from the whole of our area we collected £2,342.62, of which £772.43 was collected from our villages of Horstead and Coltishall. Thank you so much for your support to assist with the work of the Salvation Army in Great Britain.

Our Christmas Fayre held on the 16th November raised the grand total of £650 - again thank you to you for your support.

Our meeting at 11am on Sunday, 8th December will be led by Majors Peter and Iris Leech from our Divisional Headquarters in Norwich.

Our Carol Service will take place at 3pm on Sunday, 15th December and will be followed by the usual seasonal refreshments. Come and share with us in the wonder of Christmas. There will be no afternoon meeting on Sunday, 22nd December as we will be sharing with the Residents of The Mill House Nursing Home in a Carol Service.

With all the Christmas Services in our churches there will NOT be an ecumenical Songs of Praise in December but there will be one in January on 26th and will be held at 6.30pm - this is open to anyone and you would be made very welcome. Come along and sing your favourite hymn.

Mini-Market with Light Refreshments (good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, etc) will be held on Tuesdays, 3rd December and 14th and 28th January from 9.30am till 11.30am. (Tel: 01603 737326).

Coffee Mornings will be held on Tuesdays, 10th and 17th December and 21st January from 9.30am till 11.30am. Why not come along and enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea!) and a chat.

The Over 60's Club will take place on Mondays, 2nd, 9th (Christmas Lunch at 12.30pm) and 16th December, recommencing in January on 13th, 20th and 27th commencing at 2.30pm. If you would like to attend and need transport please telephone 737326.

We are now able to receive your good quality clothing and bric-a-brac again - these items can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Hall any Tuesday between 9am and 11.30am or if you need them collected please telephone Mrs Ann Beaver on 01603 737326 to arrange.

Luncheon Club will take place Wednesdays in December concluding with the Christmas Dinner on the 18th at 12.30pm. Luncheon Club will recommence in January on Wednesday, 15th at 12.30pm. If you know anyone who would benefit from attending this Luncheon Club (transport can be arranged) or if you would like to attend yourself, please contact Envoy on 737152.

LADIES FELLOWSHIP Christmas dinner will be held on Tuesday, 3rd December at the Keswick Hotel at Bacton, transport leaving the hall at 6.15pm. January's Ladies Fellowship will be on Monday, 27th at 8pm when our speaker will be Andree Lloyd from the Head Cook and Bottle Washer Shop in North Walsham on the subject of 'Gadgets'. If you have never been to one of our meetings or you used to attend you would be especially welcome to come along and share with us. Our meetings are very friendly and informal and are open to any lady - you do not have to belong to the Salvation Army to attend. (Tel: Sue Blackburn - 737495 for more information).
