The other day Ben drew a picture of
a dinosaur and this was duly fixed to our fridge door
in order that I might see it when I came home. (Is
this an indication that I go straight to the fridge
I think not). The picture itself was very good
since the dinosaur had all the limbs and a smiling
face denoted his lack of aggression. I was however,
intrigued by the lettering that had been carefully
positioned by Ben on the Dinosaur's body. What's that
I asked? His explanation was quite simple. If you
turn over his toy dinosaur it has letters on the underside,
so he copied them. I had visions of dinosaurs hatching
out and being stamped 'Made in China' before they
took their first steps.
This year the school play by the younger children
was Puss in Boots. Ben's part was as one of the mice
and this included singing, with others, many songs.
When we attended the actual performance I felt I already
knew all the songs as I had heard Ben practice them
so often. Nothing however spoils the enjoyment by
parents of a child's first school play.
As every parent will know Christmas Day means being
woken at an incredibly early hour for the opening
of the presents. We instructed, no, suggested to Ben
that 7.30 a.m. was the earliest time for opening of
presents. We were actually woken up by Ben at 7.00
a.m., which many of you will feel was very reasonable,
but Ben had remembered the 7.30 a.m. deadline. However,
in order not to be a minute late he collected the
digital alarm clock and was then able to announce
on the second of 7.30 a.m. that 'it was time'.
