February 2002

Pantomime, pantomime, what a thrill, what a time! Yes, here we are again. It is time to go into audience participation mode so you have a couple of weeks to practice your 'Oh, no it isn't', 'Oh, yes it is.' and of course the 'It's behind you'. There is no need to practice the audience song as it is better if it is completely unrehearsed we find!!

This year you are to be delighted - oh, yes you are - with 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and you may find a few interesting aspects to this production. But I shall say no more about those as you will have to come along to see what they are - curious? Well, I had heard that you were!! Enough of these jibes here are the details for you:

'Jack and the Beanstalk' will be performed on Wednesday and Thursday the 13th and 14th February 2002 at 7.30 pm. On Friday 15th February at 4.45 and 8 pm and on Saturday 16th February at 2.30 and 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from Margot Miller or please pop along to the Barn on a Saturday morning from 10.30 am to noon. Prices are £3 for children, £4 for Senior Citizens and £4.50 for adults. There are no concessions on Friday or Saturday evening.

We have joined Matthew and Nicola Nobbs in refurbishing the membership of the Players and in true equal opportunity style have provided Edward with a leading (or perhaps following) lady. Rosanna Maria was born on 3rd January weighing in at a light but healthy 6lbs 7oz. Now we leave it up to the rest of you to fill any further production gaps!!

Someone said, perhaps in jest, that I should include some jokes to cheer us all up on this page. So I shall try with something that is printable!!

An Englishman is driving through Ireland and finds that he is a little short on time to reach his destination. So, being a man, he stops at a pub and asks the barman, 'Please can you tell me the quickest way to get to Dublin?' The barman says, 'Will you be driving or walking?' 'I'm driving.' comes the reply. 'That'll be the quickest way, yes.' retorts the barman.

Anyway, all the rest that I know involve gesticulation so I can't write them down. Sorry. Just look at life as an optimist - if your shoes need re-soling it just means that at that you are still on your feet!!

We have no diary dates at present. Please approach me if you are willing to host a social evening this year, otherwise it will indeed be a trip to Thorpe Marriott and we are a very strange lot you know!!

Adieu

Wizz Fairhurst
