• Extracts from the Draft Minutes of a Meeting of Coltishall Parish Council •

February 2003

Coltishall Village Hall, Rectory Road, Coltishall, Monday, 6th January 2003

Facilities for the youth of the village
Discussion took place regarding a meeting place for the youngsters of the village and a sub-committee was formed to locate a suitable site.

Mr Chris Reilly, a Broadland District Council Youth and Community Officer is prepared to run a workshop in the village.

Editor
It is not clear as to what activities would be available at such a workshop but presumably this will link with the efforts being made to locate suitable premises.

PC Moore undertook to contact schools regarding visiting and talking with the children.

Editor
At present there would seem to be nowhere for the youngsters in the village to meet and have the opportunity to take part in productive and interesting activities. As such they tend to gather around the Londis shop where the opportunities for socially acceptable activities are clearly limited. It is encouraging that positive efforts are being made to improve this situation and if any youngsters wish to express their views in this respect or if any villagers have any ideas then the Marlpit will publish any such letters.

Homewatch Scheme
PC Moore suggested that the village start up a Homewatch Scheme as a crime prevention measure.

Editor
The Marlpit will help in any way possible with this idea and would invite PC Moore to provide any details of such a scheme that could be included within future editions of the Marlpit.
