80! Eighty! 80! Eighty

June 2003

Following the Second World War, the branch went forward again. Its fetes and gymkhanas becoming County events. The success of these enabled the Branch in its welfare work and again it won a number of county cups and awards for its work. Throughout eighty years many, many ex-service people and/or their ex-service dependants have been, and still are, grateful to the Legion for its assistance during their hard times.

Sadly, as the older members ‘fade away’, nobody takes their place and if we are to carry on our work to reach our centenary we need new members. The best celebration for our 80th birthday would be to welcome a dozen or so new members!!

What about you??? If you are ex-service and not a member, why not? Surely you should be supporting the charity which cares for the comrades you fought or served with. If you are not ex-service we would still be pleased to welcome you as you only have to be over 18 and support the aims of the Legion to become a member. Ladies (ex-service or not) we would welcome you as well.
