June 2003

Things have stayed much the same for the Jubilee Players during the month of May and will probably continue to do so during the month of June.

Rehearsals are going really well and hopefully the four one act plays will be ready for your enjoyment in July. It just seems very difficult to get everybody together in one place at the same time. People have gone off on holiday, moved house, couldn’t get a baby sitter, been working, the list of excuses seems to be endless. But don’t worry, we will have some sort of production for you in July. Well, I hope so.

At the moment July seems so far away, or is it just my fevered imagination? I fear I might be getting into the trap of thinking that I have longer to learn my lines than I really do. But at the moment no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to remember anything. Mind you, that is a usual state of affairs, not just trying to remember lines, I can’t remember anything. I would put it down to my age, but I keep trying to tell myself I am not that old!

Just so you know the performance will actually take place Wednesday 23rd, Thursday 24th and Friday 25th of July at 7.30pm at the Tithe Barn, Horstead. I hope those of you who have a better memory than me remember that we are doing four one-act plays; Costa del Packet by Anthony Booth, Murder Play by Brian J Burton and two from Deckchairs by Jean McConnell. There will be something for everyone, a bit of a thriller, a bit of sadness and a lot of humour and hopefully some

laughter put in for good measure. No not hysteria from the cast, just laughter from the audience, I hope!

And finally, heaving a great sigh of relief, the tickets will go on sale from Wednesday the 25th of June at the amazing price of £3.50. These will be available from the box office, which is run by Carol White. You can order your tickets from Carol by telephoning (01603) 737665, book early to avoid disappointment.

Well, that’s about all from the Jubilee Players for now, I don’t think I have forgotten anything, but you never know. No doubt I will remember it when the Marlpit has been printed. I’m off to learn my lines and don’t you forget to buy your tickets for the forthcoming production.
