March 2002

I find it hard to believe that we are about to march into Spring. Time really does fly so I guess we must be enjoying ourselves - that or I am getting very old!! I remember my grandmother telling me that time goes slowly when you are young and anticipating everything and then speeds up until retirement when it goes back to slow as you have too much time on your hands. She lived to be a hundred years young and spent too much time counting chimney pots from her sitting room window. We are told that we revert to childhood as we age in other ways too but from what I heard the other day perhaps some of that is not too bad. If we could all revert a little bit earlier maybe the world would be a gentler place. If we practised what we teach ( or try to) our children we would all benefit. I know in our house if certain older children put things back where they had found things and always held hands when walking out and remembered to say thank you when things were done for them I would be a happier person! If everyone had to stop work for half a hour in the afternoon for warm cookies, cold milk and a little rest perhaps stress would be reduced. Could you try to suggest that to your bosses? Might be productive in the long run. Who knows?

You know how things come in threes? Well here's another example of that! Congratulations to Kate and Steve on the birth of Leah Rose. We are doing well for the younger membership aren't we!!

We are heading towards our AGM which will take place at the Tithe Barn on Wednesday, 20th March 2002 at 7.30pm. Please come along to air your views and share in the year that was and that is to come. Hope there are none of tho se ghosts about Ebenezer!!

At the end of the Pantomime we met to decide on the July production which is to be an 'Old Tyme Music Hall'. This event will also be a celebration of our Silver Jubilee as, in case you didn't know, the Jubilee Players are so called because we were formed in the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. So prepare to be enthralled, enriched and envigorated!! Yes, I do know but I've listened to those be-whiskered announcers before!!

Adieu!!
