Those of you with children will be all
too well aware of being woken up in the middle of
the night by a call for assistance.
Ben always calls for his Mum, probably because I
wouldn't hear him and would not therefore respond.
Julie tells me that all he generally wants is to be
'tucked-up'.
Since Ben has a quilt on his bed and not sheet and
blankets I find it hard to understand why he needed
to 'tucked-up'. When I asked him he simply replied
that if he does it himself the covers are all 'roughed-up'
and when his Mum does it they are nice and smooth.
Perhaps it's the nurse training that his Mum had,
anyway who am I to argue with the merits of this since
I sleep on blissfully unaware of what is happening.
Ben came home the other day and informed us that
an ambulance had been at the school. The immediate
concern as to what incident had necessitated this
attendance was quickly dispelled when it transpired
that this was an 'educational visit'. According to
Ben they were taken in small groups for a ride inside
the ambulance with sirens wailing.
It must have made a great impression on all of them
as the teacher had some difficulty bringing them 'down
to earth' afterwards. Anyway each child was returned
to its parents later that day proudly clutching their
'gifts' - bandage, a pair of rubber gloves and a sick
bowl.
