May 2002

Springtime is traditionally a time for new beginnings and having a bit of a clear out. We, at the Jubilee players, seem to be no exception (I think this might prove to be rather an unfortunate metaphor, but we shall see!), two of our valued members have decided to step out of the limelight and take a well earned break for a while.

Wizz Fairhurst our secretary and in my eyes Super-Mum (where does she get all that energy from?) has decided to take a break from all the secretarial duties to concentrate on her family and her newest arrival, Roseanne. I am amazed that she managed to choreograph the pantomime whilst heavily pregnant and return not long after Roseanne's birth to see the pantomime through to completion. Hopefully, Wizz will be returning after a break and Wizz, on a personal note, should you decide you'd like to be secretary again, that's fine by me!

Also, Brian Lloyd has decided to retire as our Chairman and step out off the stage and into the audience. I first met Brian last October when we auditioning for Jack and the Beanstalk and I will miss him greatly, as I am sure will the rest of the Jubilee Players. I would like to say thank you to Brian on behalf of us all for all your hard work over the years for the Players; we really do appreciate it and look forward to your continued support.

Now onto the next project - the Old Tyme Music Hall - auditions will be taking place in the Tithe Barn on Wednesday 1st May and as usual I would like to make a plea for new members. As a bit of a newcomer myself to the Jubilee Players, I can vouch for the warm welcome you will receive and the huge amounts of fun that can be had by joining in. Not necessarily on the stage, but behind the scenes, although the Prompt is not one job I recommend, as I seemed to get my fair amount of stick from the pantomime cast! But please come along and have a go, you never know where it might lead!
