The meeting was pleased to welcome Police Constable
Brown.
There is always public concern about the 'lack of
policing' and it was reassuring to hear that there
are now two night patrol cars in operation and that
every effort is being made to increase the frequency
of a ward beat officer.
Reported crimes for the Coltishall area for the period
January to March were just 8 whereas for Norwich,
for example, 134 reported crimes in a night is not
uncommon.
The police are reliant upon the observations of the
public and you are asked to take the number of any
suspicious vehicle and give a good description of
any suspicious character.
The old chestnut of speeding was raised and it was
again evident that improvements to road safety are
generally only made when there has been a serious
accident. Why can't they be proactive rather than
reactive? Is initiative and forward thinking removed
from the mentality of those employed in this capacity
before they are given the job?
