| In this article I’d like
to address an issue that had been ignored and neglected by the great majority
in our area for one reason or another, which is Broadband Internet for us. Having
spoken to many people in our area, I’m constantly getting complaints on
how slow the internet is. Mentioning broadband to them, they say that would be
nice, then you realise that they have done nothing about it, that is they have
not registered their vote.
Maybe many people are unaware that they can register their vote. As many people
have an internet connection they can register themselves, but I have decided that
probably the easiest way is to include a form in the Marlpit that people can complete
and hand back to us which we will then present to BT as part of our campaign to
get Broadband in our villages. It will be of great benefit to all of us to have
a fast internet connection.
What do you get, and how much does it cost?
The cost will depend on which provider you use. There are hundreds of different
providers, and therefore, the prices will vary.
• FAST – 10 times as fast as your modem
• ALWAYS ON – No waiting to connect
• Works over your BT phone line
• Great value - as little as £20/month
• No engaged tones
• No more fighting over the phone line
• Surf the net and make calls at the same time
• Helps Internet video, music, online gaming
• No Internet call charges
How many registrations do we need?
We need 350 for BT to consider upgrading the exchange, so every vote counts,
there are well over 1,000 houses in our area, so please vote. If you currently
use the internet and find it too slow or if you’d like to use the internet
in the near future.
How do I register?
We’re providing 3 ways for you to register:
1. Go to the BT Broadband website at http://www.bt.com/broadband
and follow the instructions.
2. Go to The Marlpit website and fill in the form at http://www.themarlpit.com/broadband
3. Fill in the form (in the paper copy of the magazine) below and hand it
back to any of The Marlpit Editorial Team (see the box at the bottom the back
page of your Marlpit) or leave it in the envelope provided at the Post Office.
