May 2003

On 5th April we were out in force ringing the "Wedding Bells" for Christopher Flemming and Ashleigh Dee. The church was full, and we all enjoyed seeing some lovely outfits despite the bitterly cold North East wind, but on such a happy occasion who notices the weather? They certainly didn't. It was the first time we had seen three beautiful dogs complete with garlands of flowers around their necks attending the service! and they trotted up to greet the Bride and Groom as they came down the aisle. We send Ashleigh and Christopher all our good wishes for the years ahead.

The 12th April brought the practise evening held this time at St Peter Mancroft church in Norwich, and Dennis Moore and Tony Weston attended this event. After ringing, a meeting was held of the Northern Branch of the NDA of bell ringers. During this meeting one of our recent recruits, namely Ben Hubbard was made an Associate Member, so congratulations to Ben for hanging in there and coming regularly to our Monday evening practices.

It is a very worth while hobby and we have a really great band at the moment, but needless to say we could always do with some new recruits, so do get in touch if you feel you have the spare time and are looking for an enjoyable hobby. Obviously, to start with, individual teaching is given on a one to one basis for beginners, and in no time at all you will be ringing rounds and call changes. Why not give it a whirl!

Also on the 12th April we were very pleased to be ringing those "Wedding Bells" once again for Alex New and Haley Keeble who decided to "Tie the Knot" on this lovely Spring day. What a great idea to have members of the Trinity Link making tea & coffee whilst the photographs were being taken. Needless to say we wish them good luck and happiness in the future.

Last, but by no means least, the Coltishall Bell Ringers Association held their AGM on Monday, 14th April. as there is no ringing during Holy Week, it is the ideal time. Officers were re-elected to the posts they already held, namely:- Tower Captain - Mik Horn. Deputy Tower Captain – Harvey Meadows. Treasurer - Tony Weston. Secretary - Audrey Weston. Many issues were discussed and it was a very helpful and constructive meeting. We all hope you enjoy our ringing throughout the year, we aim to please.

Audrey Weston
Secretary
