November 2002

As many of you may have noticed, the Jubilee Players are not performing Nightmare as we originally decided. Again the age old problem of recruiting and keeping men has raised its ugly head. So Nightmare has been shelved for the foreseeable future, but we are hoping to perform it at some point.

October's performance is taking place at the moment and it is Ladies of Spirit written by Georgina Reid. It is a gentle comedy set in an all girls' school in the 1960's. And yes, as some of you may have figured out it has an all female cast and it is directed by a lady of spirit too! Libby Henshaw has managed to keep all these spirited females in order long enough to get this show on the stage and hopefully those of you who have been to see it have enjoyed it. It certainly has been good fun rehearsing it!

As always with the Jubilee Players we are already thinking about the next project. And at this time of year, yes I am afraid I am going to mention the 'C' word, Christmas. Sorry, I know for me this word usually brings me out in a cold sweat, especially this time of year because I know I should be getting organised and starting the shopping. But I know that it will probably get left to the last minute and I won't be able to get what I want. And then the final straw, I will probably either catch a bad cold or go all the way and get the 'flu. Now this will either happen just before Christmas when I have a lot to do or actually on Christmas Day when I am trying to cook dinner, watch the children open their presents and keep a list to send thank you letters, and keep everybody happy including the in-laws!

Anyway, after that hysterical moment, I had to go and grab my stress ball and give it a good squeeze! Right, the next project the Jubilee Players are turning their attention to is the pantomime. This year it will be King Arthur directed by Neil Phillips. So there will be a lot of jousting and beautiful ladies and no doubt plenty of silly jokes and audience participation. If you would like to take part in this annual silliness, then we shall be having a read through of the pantomime on Wednesday 30th of October at 7.30pm in the Tithe Barn, please come along if you would like to try a bit of acting. The dates for the auditions are to be arranged.

And finally, if you would like to join the Jubilee Players, but you feel a bit nervous about coming to an actual read through or audition, then we are having a social evening at Carol and Charles White's on Thursday 14th of November at 7.30pm. Please contact Jayne on 736450 for further details if you would like to come along.
