All Welcome
More Letters Please!!
Many thanks to the people who have been in touch with me since last month's Marlpit indicating that they are writing to object strongly to the new proposal by Tarmac for our village. Some of these did not write the previous time, so I am heartened that the 'new improved' plan is no better thought of than the last!
As you will see elsewhere in the Marlpit, there will be a Public Forum to show the new plans, which I believe will be in the Tithe Barn on 8 th November at 2.30 pm . I know it is a Saturday, but just nip down for a few moments, and then write to The Planning Department at County Hall, Martineau Lane , Norwich NR1 2 SG, attention Mr Rob Cranthorne, reference C/5/2003/5004 Horstead Trafford Estate Proposed Sand and Gravel Extraction ( amended proposal) Tarmac Ltd.
When the original proposal was mooted, Tarmac arranged to show us all a variety of maps etc. at the Conference House, when we could make comments, find out more etc. It seems that because this is an amended plan, none of this is thought necessary BUT I must stress that you must make representation AGAIN if you still object. Your original comments will NOT be considered.
The new site is smaller, for now, but still enormous by any standards. There could be requests for extensions in the future, and for now we will still have increased traffic, noise, dust, mess,
etc. etc. We have two new mineral extractions on Buxton Road and next to the Tip, and the pit at Spixworth is now beginning to come on line. All roads into our villages will be affected to some extent. Please don't think someone else will write and make a fuss. Please add your own objection. This new proposal will affect us all for a great chunk of our lifetime and will utterly destroy the countryside aspects of our villages and beyond.
Many thanks for all your support up to now.

Tarmac Appeal and New Proposal

There is still time (but only just) to write with your objections to the proposed application plan by Tarmac. They are appealing the original refusal with an amended proposal.
Whilst the Marlpit cannot provide a standard letter here are some ideas you may wish to state in your letter already given by other readers:
There would be approximately 76 lorry moments in and out per day (38 each way). This would obviously put extra pressure on what is already a busy road. Lorries heading towards Wroxham or North Walsham would need to take up both sides of the road in some places, hence causing traffic jams and possible danger to on-coming traffic, to say nothing of the fact crossing the bridge will be even slower than it is at present, with the additional lorries as two way traffic will not be possible with the size of the lorries.
There are no guarantees that the site will not be used as an infill site in the future.
Once permission is granted, there is a possibility that an extension might be applied for to increase the site, which the council would find hard to refuse.
Noise in the area will increase from traffic and machinery, as will dust and dirt on the roads meaning that the quality of life for villagers will decrease. Existing roads will need upgrading, constantly so which will add to the slowness of road journeys.
Pedestrians will find it even harder to cross the road in the village, particularly near the bend by the garage.
The damage to the wildlife and to the hedgerows which will be permanently damaged.
Letters should be sent to Mr R Cranthorne, The Planning & Transportation Department, County Hall, Martineau Lane , Norwich NR1 2SG . Reference C/5/2003/5004 Horstead Trafford Estate Proposal Sand and Gravel Extraction (amended proposal) Tarmac Ltd. |
