Text Box:

This year I thought I would say a few words about the cycle ride, and it has apparently been going since 1983. Last year an amazing £124,754 was raised, and all taking part seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves. One of our own Coltishall bell ringers, namely Dennis Moore went on his tandem with his grand-daughter on the back, and they did extremely well, So there's a thought for next year, get out your tandem and start a new trend.

In September a Festival was held to celebrate the building of Blofield Church 600 years ago, and among the experts there to answer any questions was Aubrey Forster, who advised us regarding our own bells. He mentioned that the church was built when they only had half wheels, and demonstrated how they were made, the full wheels didn't come in until sometime afterwards. There were also wood carvers, sculptors and also a stained glass window expert, who demonstrated skills used by craftsmen when Blofield Church was being built 600 years ago.

Well, just what can I say regarding the Coffee Morning, it was amazing, everyone came from near and far. There were many of our neighbours from years ago, so there was much chatting and catching up on the news regarding one another's families, and how many more grand-children etc., etc. Lovely to see them all again.

The one thing I really must mention is the great help I received, and I would like to say a big ‘Thank you very much' to Jean Moore, Audrey Riseborough, Sue Hill, Jean Stannard, Leslie Nicholson, Iris Snelling, Gisela Revill and Valerie Weston, I couldn't have managed without them, so once again many thanks ladies for all the hard work.

The main thing of course that everyone was asking as they left was ‘How much did we make'? Tony was the chief cashier, and the grand total came to £300, so it was very well worth the effort, and of course a big thank you to all the visitors. This money will go to The Friends of the Church to be put towards the finances for the new toilet facilities at St. John the Baptist Church Coltishall.
