It's a record. On Saturday, 4 th October a new Natisonal Guinness Book of Records record for ‘Longest chain of Bras' was set in March, Cambridgeshire. Over 5,000 bras from our Lions Club helped beat the old record with 18,812 pairs stretched to a length of 19.7kms (12.3 miles). Thank you all for your support. Breast Cancer Charities and Local Schools and Scout groups have received over £5,000 because of it. We assure you all that we have no intention of attempting the world record of 79,001 pairs at 60.5kms. Broadland High School Lion President Mike Barker presented a cheque for £5,000 which represented the final £5,000 needed to raise the £50,000 needed by the School to be able apply for a grant to establish a Special Maths and Computer IT College.
The Lions also gave £2,500 for bras collected by the School for the Bra Chain Record attempt.
World Sight Day was promoted throughout the School with PowerPoint presentations to 5 classes and Blindfold challenges
were carried out to bring home the enormity of those who cannot see. Used spectacles were also brought in for reuse in the third world, don't stop sending them – every old pair counts. £100 Monthly Draw. Mrs Jones of Hoveton filled in the winning ticket from the August draw, for those who donate articles for sale in The Lions Shop, Wroxham & Hoveton Playgroup will receive £100. B Taylor of Buxton asked for £100 to be sent to an Alzheimer's Charity for the September draw. The October Draw benefited The Nine Lives Cat Sanctuary at Ringland for Cindy Waldron. Please keep your donations coming. When you bring them do please ask for the opportunity to go into the hat. Our ladies work very hard and sometimes they are very busy and forget to offer the slip for you to fill in. They will not be offended if you remind them. Thank you all for supporting us.
