It has been a year since I took over as the Sector Inspector for your area. As with all large organizations, there have been a few changes in the Personnel and, I am pleased to say, a slight increase in the number of Constables on the Section.

The Sector has one Inspector, four Sergeants and twenty eight Constables based at two stations, Acle and Aylsham. We are supported by one Sector Support secretary who is based at Acle with me. The Sector is approximately 188 square miles in area, has 51 parishes and a population of about 54,000.

Since November 2002 we have been operating a twelve hour shift pattern. The officers work two twelve hour day shifts covering 7am - 7pm followed by two twelve hour night shifts covering

7pm - 7am . This is then followed by four days off.

I have looked at the allocation of Ward Beat Managers, the Officers who have specific responsibility to liaise with the Parish Clerks and the local community. With the slight increase in Constables and the current shift pattern, there is an opportunity to give a better service to you and your Parish. I have decided to group adjoining Parishes together and to ask the Ward Beat Managers for these Parishes, to work together as a team. This will retain established links and help facilitate the pooling of local knowledge. The Constables within these teams are on different shifts and this will give a better percentage chance of one of them being available to attend your meetings.

Your designated Ward Beat Manager has been instructed to liaise with you at least once a month and when available will attend your meetings to give a report of crime issues. If they are not available, I would look towards one of the ‘team Constables' to attend, but if none were available, a written report will be supplied for you.

The four Sergeants on the Sector are:

•  Sgt Robert Barber and Sgt Peter Trenerry based at Aylsham

•  Sgt Andy Hood and Sgt Clive Beeson based at Acle
