| From the splendid
support that you have shown in the past and particularly
this year, we are delighted to say that we have managed
to provide the following items for the Coltishall
and Spixworth surgeries in 2003:
Autoclave sterilizer £2,840
Aspirator £100
Accessories for patient loan Blood Pressure machine
£93
Two finger pulse oximeters £797
(useful for Asthma or other respiratory problems)
The next major event in our calendar will be a Magic
Lantern Show at Spixworth Village Hall on Friday 3rd
October 2003 starting at 7.30pm. Mr Peter Stibbons,
the great-grandson of the originator, will present
the show, which was inaugurated in the late 19th century.
This, the country’s longest running Magic Lantern
Show, is in such popular national demand but it can
only be produced some six times a year and only once
every two years in Cromer! We are very fortunate to
have procured this for your entertainment. The images
shown are of a varied nature and may include pictures
from the ‘Band of Hope’ movement, (which
some older members of our villages may remember?),
animals, children skipping, bobbing boats, scenery
and lifeboats – some are even ‘moving
pictures’. Do not miss this rare opportunity
to see a ‘brilliant’, entertaining, pre-modern
production!
Tea, coffee, orange drink and biscuits will be available
and included in the entrance fee of Adults £3
and Children £2. A raffle
will be held. Tickets are available from Derek Wilson,
Margaret Montgomery, Gisela Revill (Coltishall), Anne
Hedge (Spixworth) or at the door on the night.
The Village Hall at Coltishall has been booked in
advance for a Quiz Night to be held on Saturday 22nd
November 2003. Further details of this will be published
later but you will know how entertaining, educational
and pleasant these quiz evenings can be. If you haven’t
been to one yet – well give this one a try!
You may remember that we held a very successful Fashion
Show in Coltishall Village hall some while ago. Well,
we are planning to hold another and details of this
will be made known as soon as possible.
From the number of events, which are held, and the
meetings, which must take place to plan these and
the subsequent dispersal of the raised money, we in
the Friends are naturally pretty busy. It would help
to share the load a little if a few more kind ladies
and gentlemen would like to come along and join us.
The ‘work’ is quite pleasant, the company
good and the hours are not long! How about offering
your help? You can join in as much or as little as
you wish. We look forward to receiving your call.
Thank you. For further information please telephone
Derek Wilson on 01603 737485 or Gisela Revill on 01603
738648 or talk to any of the Friends.
