We need your Bra’s Campaign This has been a fantastic success. Broadland High School has risen to the challenge of our offer of up to 50p per bra by collecting £4,000 ish which will return £2,000 ish for their final push for the £50,000 needed to secure funding for their new Maths & Information Technology Centre. The final batches of bras are being collected on 3rd October to take to March & Chatteris Lions Club who, with our help, will now be able to beat the current national bra chain record on the 4th October. The exact amounts and length of chain will be published next month. Our collection, by the way, weighs just under 300kg, in 22 plus bin liners measuring an estimated 2.5 miles. Wroxham & Hoveton Lions will, of course, give the full £5,000 to charity as promised back in June.

Lions World Sight Day - 9th October is set aside world wide for Lions Clubs to promote their work with World Sight. Ever since the inspirational speech by Helen Keller to the International convention in 1925 Lions have dedicated time and resource to help sight programmes world wide. The Lions Eye Health Programme promotes education towards the importance of the dilated pupil exam to identify those at risk from glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. If you would like more information about Sight Day please ring 01603 738599 or visit the Lions web site, www.lionsclubs.org, Helen Keller’s speech is also available there. Wroxham & Hoveton Lions are promoting Sight Day at Broadland High School this year; the school is looking to have sponsored events using blindfolds following briefings explaining our cause. Please support them if you are asked, the proceeds

will be for their final push. Our club will no doubt match the amount raised and send it to a Lions Eye Health Programme good cause.

Thursford Spectacular 7th December - Our Thursford trip this year is once again on a Sunday evening. £25 will take you from a pickup in Coltishall or Horstead around 5:45pm to Thursford via the lights of Holt. The show is as spectacular as its name, if you would like to join us ring or visit the Lions Shop, book early as we intend to allocate unsold tickets to worthy causes later in this month.
