October 2003

As I told you in the last Marlpit we carried out a door to door collection during September to ask for a contribution to The Salvation Army’s Social work in the United Kingdom. Should you have missed our collector and would like to give or you have an envelope that has not been collected please contact me on – 737495.

We will be holding a Coffee Evening on Tuesday 14th October commencing at 7pm at 2 Alexandra Villas, Norwich Road, Horstead. There will be a cake stall and a bring and buy stall. You will be very welcome at this Coffee Evening to raise funds for the Salvation Army in Coltishall.

The Over 60’s Club will take place each Monday in October EXCEPT Monday 27th commencing at 2.30pm. Enquiries contact Anne Beaver – 737326. On Monday 27th there will be a Ladies Rally commencing at 2pm, the Leader will be Captain Elizabeth King from Aylsham and the Speaker will be Major Irene Draycott from Norwich – this Rally is open to all ladies.

Mini-Market with Light Refreshments (good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, etc) will be held on Tuesdays, 7th and 21st October from 9.30am till 11.30am. (Tel: 01603 737326).

Coffee Mornings will be held on Tuesdays, 14th and 28th October from 9.30am till 11.30am. Why not come along and enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea!) and a chat.

Luncheon Club will take place each Wednesday in October at 12.30pm. If you know anyone who would benefit from attending this Luncheon Club (transport can be arranged) or if you would like to attend yourself, please contact Envoy on 737152.

On Sunday 5th October we will be celebrating our Corps Anniversary and will have a visit from Diss Songster Brigade who will be leading our meetings at 11am and 2.30pm. Come and share with us on this special occasion and hear some fine singing and musical items.

The Ecumenical Songs of Praise will be held on Sunday 26th October at 6.30pm – this is open to anyone and you would be made very welcome. Come along and sing your favourite hymn.

LADIES FELLOWSHIP will be held on Monday, 27th October at 8pm. Alan Axford will be giving us a talk on Bluebird Travel and their Coach Holidays in 2004. If you have never been to one of our meetings, or you used to attend, you would be especially welcome to come along and share with us. Our meetings are very friendly and informal and are open to any lady – you do not have to belong to the Salvation Army to attend. (Tel: Sue Blackburn – 737495 for more information).

PLEASE NOTE – our CHRISTMAS FAYRE will take place on Saturday, 15th November from 11am to 2pm.
