October 2003

The Summer Holidays are over I am afraid and with that comes the return of The Marlpit from our summer break too. Also returning to the fray are the Tarmac troubles which many had hoped we had managed to beat. You will find a number of articles and information about the Tarmac Appeal against the decision not to allow them to develop the Stanninghall Lane site and also the Tarmac application for permission to develop a smaller area of the site. This is one of the most important issues for Stanninghall and Horstead in particular for a very long time. Please take time to read all the articles and decide whether you can write to the council to express your feelings. This may be our last chance to do so. There is to be a Public Meeting as well, to be held at the Tithe Barn sometime in the near future; watch out for announcements on the local notice boards. Our attendance is vital.

Sara is ‘retiring’ from delivering the Marlpit and we are looking for someone, hopefully in the Heggatt Hall area, to take over from her. Andrea, our Distribution Coordinator, has given more details below, so if anyone is interested in the healthy pastime of delivering the Marlpit please give Andrea a call.

In this month’s Marlpit you will find a very bright flyer giving information about registering your interest in having Broadband available in the villages. Everyone who has access to a computer and uses the Internet will be interested in what Broadband can do. If like me you are not very Computer Literate then give Ronnie a ring (Back Page again for his telephone number) and he can explain to you the merits of this new system and what has to be done to get the telephone companies to make it available to us.

The Editors were very pleased to hear that the Youth Club is taking shape and we remain interested should any of the young people involved feel that they would like to run a Junior Marlpit through the club once it is up and running.
